Sensational Seafood at McCormick & Schmicks

Sensational Seafood at McCormick & Schmicks

McCormick & Schmicks Seafood and Steaks Restaurant is located in the heart of the Plaza on 47th Street. The beautiful glass dome perches atop the rotunda shaped building. The location offers a birds-eye view looking south towards Brush Creek. This upscale eaterie offers a good selection of fine dining menu options, all prepared with quality in mind. As you approach the restaurant entrance, you will come upon an outdoor seating area. On one side there are a handful of tables, which make for a nice al fresco dining experience on good weather days. On the opposite side is an outdoor fire-pit area designed for casual gatherings. Here is a great place to wait if your table isn’t ready.

Inside they have a bar area, which offers a good Happy Hour menu from 3:30 to 6:00 pm on Sunday through Friday. For those in the area at this time of day, you can find great deals on food and drinks. We have written a previous post on their Happy Hour. Please check it out to see some of the specials.

For this post we will review some of the dinner items which we have enjoyed. They offer a wide variety of salads, of which my favorite is the Wedge. Topped with chopped tomato and blue cheese dressing, and then sprinkled with bacon crumbles. This salad is light, yet full of flavors.

When we pop in for a Happy Hour, we usually each order the burger and fries. Priced at only $5.00 it is certainly one of the best deals to be found on the Plaza. This is specific to the bar area, but we find this to be a great location for people watching. The meal is of a high quality, and quite filling. We find the service in the bar to be a little more spotty than when seated at a table in the main dining area, but of course the area is almost always bustling with guests.

For those looking for a little seafood flavor, but not too much, the Shrimp & Sausage Mac and Cheese may be just the perfect fit. The Andouille Sausage adds a little bit of Cajun kick to the dish, while the sauce is made with a four cheese combination that offers loads of flavor.

For those avoiding the seafood flavors the Parmesan Crusted Chicken may be just the thing. Coated in a butter sauce with capers, this crispy dish is balanced with a creamy side of Linguini Alfredo. Once again the sauces help bring a pleasant flavor to balance out the dish.
McCormick and Schmicks - Kansas City Missouri Restaurants - Fine Dining Restaurants
McCormick & Schmicks is a premier restaurant and their prices reflect this. It makes a great choice for a date night or special celebration, as the whole dining experience is pleasant.  If you still have room after dinner, then you may be tempted to enjoy one of their decadent desserts. Cheesecake, pie, and creme brulee are all good choices, but for those looking for something over the top, you will want to try the Chocolate Bag. It is made of a fine chocolate, and inside you will find fresh berries and a white chocolate mousse filling. A raspberry glaze and whipped cream help bring additional flavors to the dish. This is certainly a dessert that needs to be enjoyed by more than one, and goes well with an after dinner cup of coffee. Have you ever tried it?

We are Jeff and Crystal, a Baby Boomer couple who love exploring this big blue marble we all call home. After spending the first portion of our lives together raising a family, the empty-nest syndrome finally caught up with us. This has given us the opportunity to spend more time traveling, and seeking out new destinations. We developed this travel blog with the goal of showing how we “Visit Like A Local”. Our itineraries are designed to get us off the interstates, and into the heart of the places we visit. We believe this will allow our readers to choose a cultural experience, and eventually head home with a real flavor of the places they visit. We hope you are enjoying our website and will consider sharing it with your friends. Please come back often, as we post new articles three times per week.
