The old adage of “Good things come in small packages” certainly applies to Elle’s Patisserie. Located in Springfield, Missouri, Elle, her husband Jon, and son Oliver have made this family business a sweet success.
Sweet Digs at Elle’s
Our visit was perfectly timed, since they had just completed a remodel of their shop. The new European style is a fitting fashion for this business. It is very reminiscent of the French shops we recently visited in St. Maarten. The new seating area can handle about a dozen customers at Elle’s. It is a good place to savor a chocolate croissant and coffee. For those seeking some Vitamin D with their treats, a new outdoor dining area is also available. Here you will find bistro seating surrounding a fountain. The area is fenced off on two sides to offer a more intimate feel.
Although some things have changed inside of the shop, the one constant is Elle. Her bubbling personality is evident, as she assists customers. Her love for creating is apparent in her conversations, and many of the people we saw shopping seemed to be repeat visitors. Our stop was about an hour after opening, and she was already having to refill many of the items. Even though we had just finished breakfast, the wonderful smells tugged at our appetites.
Perfect Patisserie Presentation
The smell of fresh baked croissants is almost heavenly to me. Here we found a good variety of pastries. Jon is focused on creating these, and does it to perfection. Stacks of them tempt patrons, and the addition of fresh pressed coffee seals the deal. Combine these with a cozy seat in the corner, and a morning newspaper, and life is just about perfect. What more could a customer ask for? But wait! No patisserie is complete without a selection of sweets.
Elle’s has this covered with a wide assortment of macarons, truffles, barks, and toffee. Delightfully decorated, these shaped wonders are as pleasing to the eyes as they are to the palate. There were so many varieties to choose from, but the Salted Caramel was too tempting to pass up. We also picked up a few macarons for the road. These were a delightful treat that we discovered in the islands. When I found Elle’s Patisserie during my research, I just knew this place was a must-do on our itinerary. It ended up being a worthwhile addition, and a sweet success. Be sure to visit on your next trip to Springfield, Missouri.
