Downtown Independence Square is easily walk-able, but a ride with Pioneer Trails Adventures is a great way to get a new perspective. We have visited this historic locale on many occasions, but never like this time. We had just completed a tour of the old jail, and now we were ready to experience a trail ride.
The first recorded “outsiders” to visit the Kansas City area were Lewis & Clark on June 26, 1804. They made their encampment at the confluence of the Missouri and Kaw Rivers, at what is now known as Kaw Point. For three days they rested, repaired their boats, and explored the countryside. They had been sent by President Jefferson, along with a crew of 51 men, to trace the Missouri River to its source. The hope was to find a route to the Pacific Ocean.Continue reading →
The Rosedale Memorial Arch is dedicated to the servicemen who served in World War 1. It was designed by John Leroy Marshall, who’s inspiration was the “Arc de Triomph” in France.

Golfing, while fun, can be an expensive sport. There is the cost of a bag of clubs, and golf balls. You better bring extra if you are new to the game, because you will be losing a few. If you don’t want to carry your clubs all over the course, you will need to invest in a hand cart or rent a golf cart. Greens fees can run from costly to unbelievable.
